Welcome to the San Luis Obispo Green Pages sponsored by The Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo (ECOSLO).

Many of our local businesses have taken important steps to incorporate comprehensive sustainable practices and to minimize the effects of their businesses on our local environment.

We applaud those accomplishments and encourage each and every business to carefully consider its operations and product and service offerings to insure that any harmful effects on the environment are minimized.

ECOSLO’s San Luis Obispo County Green Pages directory is a reference for consumers of all kinds of products and services to locate and support local businesses offering high quality products and services, all produced and delivered in the most environmentally sensitive manner.

You don’t have to be in San Luis Obispo County very long to know that the natural beauty of our little corner of the world is one of our most valuable treasures. And, our county’s businesses are perhaps the most powerful actors in the way in which our local environment can be preserved for future generations of Central Coast inhabitants.

We’re glad you have found us. We encourage you to browse our directory of local green businesses. And, be sure to show your appreciation for the environmental contribution of our ECOSLO Green Pages members with your patronage.

100% of the proceeds generated by the ECOSLO Green Pages directory go directly to ECOSLO and are used to continue its 35 year tradition of environmental preservation in San Luis Obispo county. Please visit the ECOSLO web site for more information about our projects.

Also, we encourage you to browse our site. You’ll find lots of good information and references on how to be a green consumer, or if you’re in business yourself, how you can become a green business, and even an ECOSLO Green Pages member!

Enjoy, and don’t forget to shop local and shop green! Thank you.

Green Consumer Tip of the Month

Buy a clothesline and enjoy the fragrance of the fresh outdoors air in all your favorite clothes. Consider a wooden or retractable drying rack for indoors or the winter. Clothes dryers are tremendous energy users, especially the electric models. If clothes lines are not allowed were you live, gather together with your neighbors and start a campaign to permit them.

Alternative Fuel Workshop October 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cal Poly

Could your car be converted to run on batteries instead of gas? Would it provide the speed and range you need? How hard is it to convert? What does it cost to convert and operate an electric car?

These questions and others will be answered during a one-day workshop held on Saturday, October 6th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Cal Poly campus. The early portion of the talk will cover general information about conversions - cost, performance, environmental issues, etc. Then speaker Mike Brown of Electro Automotive will get into the nuts and bolts, from choosing a suitable chassis, stripping it, installing the components and wiring, to charging, maintenance, and driving techniques. A factory electric Toyota RAV4 and a converted Fiat X1/9 will be on hand as demo vehicles. This event is free and open to the public but registration is required. Visit the C5 website at www.c-5.org or call Alex Bugrov at (805) 781-4654 for more information.
